Description

For 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper, being a once-in-a-generation mind capable of advanced mathematics and science isn't always helpful in East Texas where church and football are king. And while the vulnerable, gifted and somewhat naïve Sheldon deals with the world, his very normal family must find a way to deal with him. His father is struggling as a high school football coach and as father to a boy he doesn’t understand. Sheldon's mother fiercely protects and nurtures her son who just doesn't fit in. Sheldon’s older brother does the best he can in high school, but he’s also in the same classes with Sheldon. Finally, there’s Sheldon’s twin sister who remains the one person who can reliably tell Sheldon the truth. For 10 years on The Big Bang Theory, audiences have come to know the iconic, eccentric and extraordinary Sheldon Cooper. Now meet him as he embarks on his innocent, awkward journey toward the man he will become.

  • Enchanting!

One of the most captivating shows I’ve seen. Brilliant! The show frames the development of Sheldon’s intellect within a conservative religious environment. While Sheldon’s scientism may be pedantic, it is never without innocence and love for his family and their view of the world. I had the same reaction to this show as I have had to various British comedies. Young Sheldon is a gentle, sympathetic, Horatian satire, in contrast to Hollywood’s typically over-exaggerated, post modern, salacious and incomprehensibly absurd dramatic irony. The entire cast is spot on! Iain Armitage captures the essence of a young Sheldon Cooper with depth and charm. Zoe Perry plays the mother we want for Sheldon and could only hope for ourselves. Lance Barber plays the beer and football loving everyday American dad in a lovable and highly relatable way. Annie Potts! What a perfect choice for Sheldon’s inimitable Meemaw. Even Sheldon’s siblings, who could easily have appeared as simple foils to Sheldon’s character, are anything but that. Raegan Revord plays the plucky Missy, the twin with all of the emotional intelligence. And, Montana Jordan deftly portrays Sheldon’s big brother who is determined to make his own way next to his brilliant brother. I immediately purchased the entire season and eagerly await each new release.
  • The Best Show Ever!

The casting and writing of this show are the best I have ever seen. There isn't a single weak link in the cast--even the old biddy in church and the teachers are to die for! It is such a pleasure after decades of lousy/trashy tv to finally see something that is thoughtful, colorful, warmhearted and so funny. As for the actor who plays "Young Sheldon" he has nailed it--he so convincingly and richly slides into the family then is suddenly out of place again in the impractical world--as it is with most geniuses. Add him to the absolutely magnificent cast of supporting actors and the brilliant writing and you have a winner--thirty minutes of blissful escape and laughter!

I watched lil Shelly as I call it and I notice it didn’t have enough bazinga per episode, overall though I’d give this series an apple and a bread log outta ten
  • This show is stuck in a time warp

I watched "Young Sheldon" once, and Sheldon comes across as a know-it-all who is stuck in the 1980's.
  • Horrible!

When the writers chose to mock Jesus Christ, they lost many adoring fans. I hope this series tanks.

CBS just wants to squeeze every cent out of Big Bang theory license because they know the general audience will eat it up
  • Very clever comedy

I was unsure about this spin off when it first came out, the pilot seemed mediocre at best, however, this show has gone from strength to strength and I am now loving it! I think the voice of Jim Parsons narating bits of the show helps, but the characters are really coming into their own! I now look forward to watching this every week!

I'm not sure this stands on its own. But I don't think it was meant to be. If you love the Big Bang Theory you will enjoy and, more importantly, understand this series. No coincidence that Sheldon, Jim Parsons, narrates this series. It is his back story, as best as can be remembered. If you love the Big Bang series you will enjoy it, foibles and all; as an intelligent spinoff. If you are not there, or you do not like the Sheldon character, this series is tough sledding. I'm there.. PS. Look at Sheldon's sister in this series and check out the episode where we meet Sheldon's (adult) sister and tell me they didn't find a perfect match. Lord, even the mannerisims are similar!
  • I hate this show.

Awful. The child actor is terrible and it’s so overly exaggerated to the point of totally predictable garbage.
